At EuropeXchange, we were delighted to welcome four teachers from Italy who travelled to Southern Spain to participate in an Erasmus+ KA1 teacher training course focused on Preventing School Absenteeism. The mobility took place in the beautiful coastal area of Nerja–Torrox Costa, offering the perfect environment for professional development and cultural exchange.
Course Focus: Keeping Students Connected Preventing Absenteeism and Promoting Engagement
During their Erasmus+ mobility, the Italian teachers explored:
Innovative strategies to reduce absenteeism
Early identification of at-risk students
Family–school collaboration
Practical tools for motivation and student engagement
Case studies from Spanish schools
The training combined theoretical sessions with hands-on activities, giving participants practical methods they can apply in their own classrooms.

An Erasmus+ Mobility Full of Learning and Cultural Exchange
Beyond the classroom, the teachers enjoyed cultural visits in the region, discovering:
Nerja’s historical centre
The Balcón de Europa
Local gastronomy and Mediterranean lifestyle
This cultural immersion is an essential part of every Erasmus+ teacher mobility, helping participants better understand the Spanish education context and strengthen cross-cultural collaboration.
